NBC’s long-running, classic comedy show Saturday Night Live has launched a spoof sports spots to promote this week’s episode of the show introducing Nike’s new Pro-Chiller Leggings.
With copy lines like ‘Designed for endurance, Used for sitting on the couch’, the commercial mocks the usual, classic sportswear spot approach which sees athletic-wear marketed by intensely-driven amateurs and professionals driving themselves hard alongside on-screen copy lines like ‘Because what you do is who you are.”
Indeed, this comic promo video claims the sports behemoth’s latest leggings are: “Designed for endurance, but used for what most women actually do in leggings: settin’ up shop on their couch.”
The ad stars Aidy Bryant (who explains how her ‘soft pants’ are perfect for moving from couch to bed to “other side of couch”) and Kate McKinnon (who states “I’m tired from my nap!”).
The comic commercial is rolling out across SNL’s TV, digital and social channels.

Comment:
We think this comic clip is spot-on: it unersdtands that for so many people who buy ‘athleisure’ gear, it is the ‘leisure’ part rather than the ‘ath’ part that really counts.
In fact, the Activative team is so motivated by the ad that we are heading off to the office sofa for some snooze stretching .
Hey Nike, pleased start making and marketing ‘Pro-Chiller Leggings’.
The spoof is getting plenty of media coverage,
"SNL" just nailed your relationship with leggings. https://t.co/UkORYEEOnq
