Star Sports India Uses Fan Banter Films To Promote Coverage Of The 2020 IPL Prior To Tournament

Star Sports, the tournament’s official broadcaster, has released a promotional campaign for the 2020 edition of the Vivo Indian Premier League (IPL).

 

The spot-led campaign, which was conceptualised by the broadcaster’s in-house production and creative team, is based on the classic pre-competition chatter and banter which fans indulge in ahead of the first ball of the tournament.

 

 

Along with Hindi, the film has also been released in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Bengali across TV and digital.

 

The campaign was created by the Star India in-house production team with Director Suresh Triveni, Executive Producer Radhika Sawhney and Editor Shiv Panikar.
 

Comment:

 

The 13th edition of the IPL starts on 29 March 2020 and this campaign follows on from the broadcaster’s 2019 promotional campaign which urged cricket fans to watch the tournament together with family and friends (see case study).
