On 8 November UEFA partner Sony Interactive Entertainment released new TV ident creative – commercial break-bumpers – to run during UEFA Champions League broadcasts featuring some of PlayStation’s most famous franchise game characters in a spot where the worlds of football and gaming collide.
The activation, which aims to celebrate fans’ shared passion of football and gaming, and the video opens in a stadium tunnel as players react with trepidation and fear when they find God of War’s Kratos and Atreus are leading out the opposing team.
Other iconic gaming characters appearing in the spots include Ratchet and Clank who materialise via a dimensional rift on the pitch to rescue an injured player, Horizon Forbidden West’s Aloy joins a management team and users her focus and tactical combat expertise to lead players to victory, while Uncharted’s Nathan Drake gets the best seat in the stadium by traversing up the stands to support his from the stadium roof.
Launched on 2 November, the idents for a single ‘PlayStation x UEFA Champions League – Play Has No Limits’ film also posted across both property and sponsor social platforms.

The activation follows on from PlayStation’s recent renewal of its UEFA Champions League partnership for the 2021-24 cycle: continuing a long-running relationship which began back in 1997. The tie-up also includes sponsorship rights for the UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Youth League and UEFA Futsal Champions League.
