March saw ESPN basketball analyst Jay Williams and comedian Seaton Smith step up to host the ‘Acura Less Talk Sports Network’ to leverage the auto brand’s March Madness college basketball rights.
The idea is that Williams and Smith use as few words as possible to comment on the brackets, upsets and highlights of March basketball with their ‘Less Talk’ pre- and postgame analysis.
Deriving inspiration from Acura’s umbrella ‘Less Talk, More Drive’ brand campaign, the ‘Less Talk Sports Network’ seeks to cut through longwinded sports commentary by telling viewers everything they need to know about March Madness in 30-seconds or less.
The Acura Less Talk Sports Network will air through the 2 April college basketball finals an the campaign will be featured on top sports sites such as ESPN and Turner Sports, as well as across social media platforms.
Acura will also update creative in real-time within the brand’s homepage takeovers on ESPN and Turner Sports based on live game outcomes, while on social the campaign will span Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, and Giphy with a primary focus on real-time game reactions.
Plus viewers will be able to share gifs and memes featuring Williams’ reactions with their social followers based on the basketball match-ups and outcomes.
“We have a new take on sports commentary where we get straight to the point without the fluff. More fun, less talk.” said Williams, who is partnering with the Acura campaign for the third consecutive year.
Comment:
An interesting, disruptive campaign, it’s just such a great shame we wont see any more of it as there won’t be any March Madness this year.
