The first week of October saw GPS performance data company STATSports leverage its new partnership with Arsenal FC through a digital/social hybrid campaign/competition built around the all-new ‘STATSports Arsenal FC Edition’.
With content rolling out across STATSport’s online channels, the copy challenges Arsenal fans to compare and compete with their heroes by tracking their own stats, compete against Arsenal’s best and improve their own game in the process.
The campaign features current players Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Ainsley Maitland-Niles – all of whom have used STATSports since their academy days.

Participation is incentivised by the brand by giving away 100 signed versions of the limited edition ‘STATSports Arsenal FC Edition GPS Tracker’ and Gunners supporters are funnelled towards a web hub to sign up
The new ‘STATSports Arsenal FC Edition’ is the very same tracker used by the club’s first team which slots into the back of a performance training vest and captures key wearer data such as ‘total distance’, ‘max speed’, ‘high speed running’, ‘intensity and strain’ levels.
The revamped alliance extends an existing partnership which has seen Arsenal use STATSports data to help enhance the performance of its men’s, women’s and academy teams for the last 10 years.
The new tie-up between the sports data outfit and the North London Premier League club sees STATSports become the official GPS Performance Tracker of Arsenal which will see the brand collect and curate Arsenal player performance data and also enable the brand to access performance data from aspiring players from all levels of the game in order to help Arsenal track the next generation of talent.
Young players will now be able to review their own data – such as max speeds, high-speed running distance and intensity – against the data from players at all levels of the club in order to understand where and how they need to improve to compete with the professionals. Individuals who register outstanding data results will be referred to Arsenal.
“We’re really excited by this partnership. STATSports have played a key role in developing the physical performance of our players for more than a decade,” said Arsenal Academy Manager Per Mertesacker. “The fact aspiring players are now able to benchmark themselves against players at Arsenal by using The STATSports Arsenal FC Edition pod is a big step forward for the club.”
Sean O Connor, Co-Founder of STATSports, added: “We’re delighted to be able to bring this innovation to the market, and as a long-standing client, we’re thrilled that Arsenal are the first to develop this revolutionary concept with us.”
“The potential for the STATSports Arsenal FC Edition is massive, we firmly believe that we can unearth talent that would previously have gone unnoticed.”
