Audi Showcases New Spurs Stadium Via Cockerel Fronted Social Campaign Ahead OF CL Final

Tottenham Hotspur partner Audi UK brought the team’s iconic cockerel mascot for an ad adventure for a social campaign showcasing the club’s new stadium and leveraging the 1 June UEFA Champions League Final.

 

The campaign, created and produced in harness with agency We Are Social Sport and We Are Social Studios, sees sponsor Audi make the most of its rights as excitement builds ahead of Sppur’s first ever CL final.

 

The initiative is spearheaded by a social media video which sees the cockerel mascot pull up to the new stadium in an Audi Q8.

 

The creative shows off various different parts of the team’s new multi-use venue – including the home dressing room, press auditorium and underground car park – before closing on the side of the pitch.

 

Throughout the film, the cockerel is also joined by Spurs stars Toby Alderweireld, Fernando Llorente, Erik Lamela and Kyle Walker-Peters, as well as club legend and former skipper Ledley King.

 

 

The initiative was created for an Audi UK team that included social media lead Emma Page, events manager Christina Dudley and customer engagement executive Lucy Robinson.

 

The team at We Are Social Sport / We Are Social was led by group creative director Gareth Leeding, senior creatives Rob James and Doug Stewart, group account director Nick Dodd, business development director John Crozier, account director Franco Necchi-Ghiri, account manager Harriet Donovan, senior strategist Diego Chicharro.

 

While the production side was led by We Are Social Studio’s producers Sophie Fitzgerald and Jen Lawlor, production manager Annabel Heath and the commercial was helmed by director Giorgio Bruni and edited by Hasani Franke.

 

Paid media was handled by PhD.

 

Comment:

 

This initiative follows on from February’s Audi ‘Dare To Be Different’ campaign – also created by We Are Social (see case study).

 

The bird owns its role as the club’s mascot and guardian as its makes sure the players and everyone associated are focused on the task at hand – finishing the season in style.

 

Unlike most football sponsorship activation, it is the cockerel that remains the core creative focus throughout the campaign rather than the players.

 

This feels somewhat fresh amidst so much player/celebrity fronted sports advertising.
