Sportswear brand Champion’s Christmas campaign is led by a hero spot telling the story of Sophie: a ballerina who grew up on the streets of South London trying to break away from normal conventions and stereotypes of ballet.
The project was created in harness with agency Energy BBDO and production company Papaya Films with director Dan French, producer Pilar Muro, DoP Nathalie Pitters, Grade Alexandre Nerzic and Sound Designer Oliver Mapp.
The spot takes a highly stylised visual approach to present ballet from a fresh perspective in terms of approach, tone, shoot location, lighting and lens choice and the idea behind the campaign was to blend the worlds of classical ballet and contemporary streetwear.
