As the FIFA World Cup draws to a close, the BBC extended the tapestry led strand of its Russia 2018 promotional work through a poster salute to the England team.
After progressing all the way to the semi-finals, the UK state broadcaster launched a poster thanking all 23 members of the squad called ‘Pride Of A Nation’.
This print insignia aesthetic leverages the team’s logo through the familiar ‘three lions on his shirt’ line to comprise 23 lions.
Each representing the 23 England players who made it to the last four of the tournament.
The copy line beneath the image says ‘Pride of a nation. Well done England’ beside an embroidered version of the BBC Sport and Russia 2018 logos.
The poster was created for BBC Sport head of marketing James Parry and marketing managers John Sprott and Helen Worsey by ECDs Laurent Simon and Aidan McClure, creative heads James Cross and Tim Jones, creative Nick Robinson and James Reynolds, head of design Laurence Honderick, designer Jemma Collins and producer Liz Dolan.
Comment:
This is an add-on to the broadcaster’s core ‘History Will Be Made’ tapestry focused initiative (see case study).
