Dept Int’l Trade Teams Up With Thomas Lyte For Behind The Scenes Six Nations Trophy Campaign

As the 2021 Guinness Six Nations kicked off, trophy maker Thomas Lyte teamed up with the UK Government’s Department for International Trade for a behind-the-scenes campaign focusing on the tournament’s trophy.

Launched on 9 February, the campaign rolled out across both the company and the government department digital and social channels (including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and offers a unique insight into the history of the famous trophy history through a peak into Thomas Lyte’s London workshop.

The social spot explores how the Six Nations Trophy – a six-sided cup with each side and engraved crest representing each competing nation – was designed and crafted by Her Majesty’s Silversmiths.

Made in the UK and made from more than 50 pieces of sterling silver. It shows the process of getting the 2021 version of the trophy ready before it is presentation to the winning team in March.

From designing the pieces to polishing off the finished product, the whole process takes around 200 craft hours to make.

The creative also seeks to drive viewers to the company’s website where it explains more about the trophy’s design and manufacturing process.
