Mid-March saw Exeter Chiefs trio Joe Simmonds, Jack Maunder and Tom O’Flaherty surprise the families of patients of the Children’s Hospice South West with an evening story-time session from Maunder’s own book.
The players surprised the families via Zoom to read bedtime stories to children with life-limiting conditions (and their families) who are being cared for by the hospice, as well as for some bereaved families who with strong hospice links.
They book they read from was scrum-half Maunder’s motivational kids book, called ‘Bounce Back Jack’.
After the reading, the players, patients and parents talked with the group about their own personal experiences of times when they have overcome setbacks and shown resilience.
The video was amplified across the club, league and sponsor Gallagher’s social platforms.
