Some of the biggest names in the footballing world get a heroic makeover in a mid March promotional film ahead of the Women’s World Cup France 2019.
Timed to leverage a series of pre World Cup friendly warm up tournaments – such as the #SheBelievesCup – and the start of the tournament’s individual online ticket sales phase, an introductory video introduces the game’s global rights-owner’s impressive 23-strong squad of FIFA Legends.
This team of icons from across the football landscape are set to harness their ‘soccer superpowers’ as they embark on a global mission to promote the tournament in particular and the women’s game in general.
From superhuman reflexes to the power of flight, the ability to shapeshift to telekinesis, this squad of superheroes and their remarkable superpowers are ready to change the world on the road to France.
The core video is supported by a series of individual player/ambassador super hero spots.
This year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France kicks-off on 7 June in Paris’ Parc des Princes and the final will be held in the Stade De Lyon a month later on 7 July.
The FIFA Legends promotional campaign comes a week after the start of the official trophy tour,
and backs up the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup ticket campaign which initially launched in December 2018.

The crown jewel in what looks set to be a huge year for women’s sport, in years to come fans, the sports media and sports marketers may well look back on France 2019 as the tipping point when women’s sport and women’s sports marketing genuinely went mass market around the world.
The latest wave of work promoting the tournament backs up France’s 2019 ‘Dare To Shine’ big idea.
24 teams will contest the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 this summer and the tournament’s inspiring official slogan is ‘Dare to Shine’.
FIFA introduced the slogan back in December 2018 by asking several leading names in men’s and women’s football what that phrase means to them, how they have applied it in their own careers, and how the players due to feature in France next year should use it to take the tournament by storm.
