The last week of November saw HSBC expand its ‘The Remarkables’ online video series telling stories of several inspiring athletes from the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and celebrating individuals who are trailblazers and difference-makers.
HSBC believes that ‘if you can see it, you can be it’ and the aim and the approach of the activation is to bring to life the banking giant’s commitment to creating opportunity through sevens rugby by helping make the game more diverse, more open and more sustainable.
The latest episode of ‘The Remarkables’ focuses on Irish rugby sevens star Jordan Conroy: a speedy winger who plays his club rugby with the Buccaneers RFC. According to the film, Conroy has faced multiple challenges through his life: crossing cultures and overcoming prejudice, escaping domestic abuse and challenging living environments. Even being told that rugby wasn’t right for him.
But thanks to support from multiple directions, he overcame these challenges to become one of the best players on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
As well as interviewing the player himself, the film sees HSBC speak to many of the people who supported him as it tells a story that sets out to inspire people around the world to follow in his footsteps.
Conroy’s story is the latest in an ongoing series which also includes films focusing on Jodie Ounsley, Danielle Waterman, Ruby Tui, Ghislaine Landry and Perry Baker.
