IBM Watson analyses millions of data sources on more than 1,900 players across 32 teams every single day and this statistical resource blends with traditional statistics and expert analyst insights arms team owners with data-based game information – both in the real and the fantasy football worlds.
To showcase the length football experts and amateurs go to to capture up-to-the-minute intelligence for fantasy football players, ESPN fantasy football partner launched ‘ESPN Fantasy Football with IBM Watson’ to promote its tie-up with the sports broadcasting behemoth.
The campaign is built around a set of six 15-second digital spots: each highlighting how IBM Watson helps people make informed decisions to overcome information overload, personal bias and injuries.
Comment:
Fantasy football players (or should that be team owners?) spend on average around seven hours per week considering trades and line-ups in order to make sure their own judgement on the most competitive team take to the fantasy field at the weekend.
The message in this campaign is that while fans can’t rely on their own favourite players or teams in the real world, their fantasy selves can always count on insights from IBM Watson to help make the best game day decisions.
From The Masters (see our 2018 campaign case study) to Wimbledon (see our 2017 campaign case study), the French Open (see our 2016 campaign case study) and the Australian Open (see our 2016 campaign case study) and now IBM is turning over Watson’s powers to the fantasy sports world.
What’s next?
How long before the AIs and the robots themselves play in the real world games?
