To celebrate the return of rugby, the official vehicle partner of Premiership Rugby put ambassador David Flatman (and his dog) in a new Defender to discuss the rugby and auto industry related challenges of lockdown, the sport’s long pandemic-enforced absence and its approach to embracing the new normal (and he even jokes about making a return to the pitch himself).
The former England prop’s social spot, launched a day ahead of the league’s 14 August restart and developed in harness with agency CSM, continues the brand’s values led marketing around the sport.

Land Rover’s league sponsorship, which dates back to 2004, is just one of its rugby tie-ups which range from elite rugby to the amateur, grass roots game (such as 2019’s global ‘It’s What Makes Rugby, Rugby’ – see case study) and which include club partnerships (with Bath, Wasps, Glasgow Warriors and Cardiff Blues) as well as official partnerships with the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups (like 2015’s ‘We Deal In Real’ – see case study) and with six Lions tours.
