League & BroadbandTV Roll Out ‘NBA Playmakers’ For Millennial Video Creators

Amidst mid May’s playoffs, The National Basketball Association (NBA) and new partner BroadbandTV (BBTV) are rolling out an innovative fan community for video makers based around basketball and basketball culture called ‘NBA Playmakers’.

 

The league has been working with Broadband TV, one of the world’s biggest multi-platform networks, on this first-of-its-kind film-maker initiative to engage with millennial fans in order to ensure young video creators have an opportunity and an incentive to produce and share basketball-related film content.

 

These young fan basketball content creatives are also being offered a set of additional benefits – from special access to NBA footage and NBA games, plus new merchandise, as well as special league events and even access to NBA production facilities.

 

The NBA Playmakers network spans YouTube, the NBA’s own existing digital assets and a set of other additional platforms and aims to engage and drive traction with late teen and young adult audiences.

 

With the launch, the NBA and BBTV are offering an open invite to all movie creators to become part of the network and to showcase their own passion for the game through their own unique video voice.

 

Described as ‘a fusion of ball culture, style, and attitude through video’, young video creators are urged to ‘capture it or consume it, run the game with NBA Playmakers’.

To launch this collaborative league/fan ‘NBA Playmakers’ initiative, the platform will initially showcase a diverse set of YouTube creators producing digital variant stories on the 2016 NBA Playoffs campaign – ‘Every Second Counts’ (which is part of the NBA’s ongoing, umbrella ‘This Is Why We Play’ big idea.

 

 

The project is being promoted across all NBA channels – from Facebook and Instagram, to Twitter.
