Liverpool FC continues its regional partnership strategy with an interesting extension of its partnership with China’s PPTV that will see the Asian video service provider become the club’s TV and STV partner as well as creating a 2016 Liverpool-themed television set.
The new November partnership deal, which builds on the single year deal signed earlier in February, will see the Shanghi-based company produce a limited edition release of 5,000 Liverpool-themed TVs.
Each set will not just feature the Merseyside club’s logo on its surface, but also Liverpool FC branding on the start-up screens.
Legendary Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler attended the announcement to boost attention around the partnership which comes into effect on 1 January 2016.
At present PPTV sponsors the video content section of Liverpool FC’s recently launched Chinese website, as well as airing exclusive LFC TV content that ranges from star interviews, match highlights, club news and player updates.
This deal is part of a wider effort from Liverpool to move significantly into the Chinese market which first started in 2011 with the launch of an official club presence on the Sina Weibo platform.
Since then the club has rolled out three further official accounts in China on Tencent Weibo, Youku and WeChat.
