The Maldives tourist office has launched a campaign in Russia to use the 2018 World Cup to promote its tourist offering. The marketing initiative, which was launched by tourism minister Moosa Zameer, sees the country’s tourist department pen a €40,000 / US$47,289 deal with Cabvertising Europe to run the campaign creative across taxis in the tournament’s host nation. The campaign will see 100 taxis in Russian capital Moscow wrapped with ads promoting various aspects and trractions of Maldives tourism.
The two-month campaign will run from 15 June through the tournament and aims to further boost tourism from Russia to the Maldives: Russia is already one of the top tourist source markets to the Maldives: in 2017 62,000 tourists visited from Russia (an increase of 33% from the previous year).
