Timed to leverage the 2020 Virgin Money London Marathon, Nike Running launched an online spot called ‘More Than A Coach’ built around its partnership with the greatest marathoner of the modern era Eliud Kipchoge and focusing specifically on his coach Patrick Sang.
Sand, who coaches both world record holder Kipchoge and fellow Kenyan marathon star and half marathon record holder Geoffrey Kamworor, believes that helping athletes become better human beings is just as important as the physical work of training.
The ad, which takes a classic ‘behind every great athlete is a great coach’ approach, raises awareness of the sportswear brand/athlete/coach partnership as the world’s elite marathoners compete in the reworked London race (one of the few major world marathons to be held this year).
