After winning the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 creative account after a pitch run by the tournament’s local organising committee, agency Saatchi & Saatchi rolled out its first wave of work promoting the event called ‘Nothing Beats Like It’ which sets out to showcase the energy and excitement of the tournament and which aims to inspire Aussies to watch the event.
The creative features some of the world’s leading hoops stars and blends a lively soundtrack which includes the sound of the ball bouncing on the court, shoes squeaking on the varnished floor and the noise of cheering fans.
The campaign spans film, print, OOH, digital and social content and kicked off with a hero lunch spot called ‘Nothing Beats Like It | FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022’
The agency’s multi-channel work, which will roll out in phases through to the tournament which runs from 22 September to 1 October, will seek to engage and excite the existing international basketball community, extend the event’s reach to new fans and boost ticket sales and viewing figures.
“We’re delighted to appoint and work with Saatchi & Saatchi as they clearly understood the excitement and passion we expect to generate through this global event,” commented Taryn Kirby, general manager of marketing, media and communications for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 local organising committee.
“The new creative demonstrates the vibrancy and unity of our players and audience; we are looking forward to rolling it out across Australia in the lead up to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney next year.”
Saatchi & Saatchi General Manager Toby Aldred commented: “Working on the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 is a rare opportunity. We intend to fire up as many Australians as possible to experience for themselves what it feels like to be court side at a live game with the best of the world’s players here in Sydney.”
