Ahead of the February auction for the 2021 edition of the IPL, official broadcaster Star Sports has brought back its ‘Election Se Selection’ campaign with a fresh twist.
The idea is that cricket fans predict signings for their favourite franchise and those whose own selections best match the real ones on auction day win prizes and a cricket celebration kit.
The initiative, the fourth iteration of the campaign, is promoted by a film featuring Gautam Gambhir (an Indian cricketer turned politician) which runs across the channels own on-air and online platforms.
The spot sees Gambhir introduce ‘Legendary Selection’ where his own predictions and those of fellow Indian cricket star turned actor Irfan Pathan match participants’ player and team selections.

The contest runs live on iplselection.hotstar.com and the VIVO IPL Auction 2021 itself will be broadcast on 18 February 2021 (in five languages – English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada) on the Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar VIP.
This campaign follows on from last year’s iteration for the late running IPL 20202 which was spearheaded by a hero video again running across the broadcaster’s channels.
