A-League Side Sydney FC Rolls Out WebAR Augmented Reality New Stadium Reveal Experience

Australian A-League Men side Sydney FC teamed up with 7DX (Sydney) to give fans a virtual portal experience of the club’s new stadium through an interactive augmented reality experience

 

The preview glimpse of the team’s new ground, which is due to open later in 2022, even enables fans to explore the stadium and even find their favourite seat/view for next season’s action.

 

Guided by a virtual version of club legend and former skipper Alex Brosque, the Sydney Football Stadium AR Experience uses AR to bring the stadium to life for supporters who can check out new stadium features, look at interactive maps of the local area and explore the new ground inside and out. Plus, when the portal is launched in a big enough space, fans can even expand the ground model so that they can virtually step out into the middle of the pitch.

 

Optimised it to work without downloading an app, the ‘WebAR Sydney Stadium Experience’ can be launched simply by opening a link or scanning a QR code on a mobile or tablet onto a flat surface like a tabletop or the ground. The 3D stadium can be rotated and expanded alongside other useful information to explore spatially with maps and hotspot areas.

“Using augmented reality is a highly exciting way to deliver the experiences we will be providing our Members and fans with once the stadium opens,” explained Sydney FC CEO Danny Townsend. “This way they can choose their seats, their Membership packages and the experience they want from attending Sydney FC games from the comfort of their own home. Launching this microsite now gives our Members and supporters early access to the best deals and as we look forward to returning to Moore Park in October, without having to wait until the stadium is open.”

 

7DX CEO Julian Ward added: “The experience has been balanced to deliver a creative impact, as well as being functional and giving fans engaging content. What we can achieve now with WebAR and no app is fairly powerful.”
