Mid-October saw Tokyo 2020 gold medallists Max Whitlock, Kadeena Cox, Tom Dean, Alex Yee and several other stars front a new wave of work within Team England’s ‘Bring It Home’ campaign leading up to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The creative blends archive and new footage and celebrates competing on home soil by showcasing just what that means to England’s sports stars and it also shines a spotlight on the people and communities whom they want to bring success ‘home’ for.
The hero spot, deployed across Team England social channels, also stars Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix (Diving), Chelsie & Josh Giles (Judo), Emily Campbell (Weightlifting), Niall Farrell (Boxing) and Siobhan Fitzpatrick (Wheelchair Basketball).
‘Bring It Home’ is the first Team England work created in harness with Cake (the sport, entertainment and culture agency of Havas) who were appointed in March to lead the digital communications strategy, PR and content production prior to and during Birmingham 2022.
Cake co-produced the creative with Stamp Productions.
“Nothing will feel more special to those selected to represent Team England than competing in front of a home crowd. It’s important to connect our diverse set of athletes with the fans ahead of what’s going to be an incredible Games next year in Birmingham,” commented Chief Executive of Commonwealth Games England Paul Blanchard.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham and will boast the largest ever female and para sport programme in the games’ history with new disciplines like Women’s T20 Cricket, Beach Volleyball and Para Table Tennis already confirmed in the programme. The event will also see the most diverse Team England ever with hundreds of athletes from all parts of the country competing to follow in the footsteps of English athlete heroes such as Jonathan Edwards and Kelly Holmes.
