Telemundo, which this year makes NFL history as the first US Spanish-language network to broadcast the Super Bowl, merges the worlds of football and football by leveraging the NFL showpiece in early February by using it to promote its other Big Game this year – the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The media giant’s Super Bowl spot sees the channel’s Argentine-American sportscaster and pundit Andrés Cantor front a commercial which climax’s with his famous ‘GOOOL!’ celebratory shout which is echoed by a varied cast of fans from an American Football team, to a class of school kids and a group of dog walkers, plus a construction crew, a yoga class, a choir and even The Minions.
Running across the Comcast owned company’s fellow channels – including NBC and Peacock – the spot promotes the network’s coverage of FIFA World Cup in Qatar which kicks off later in 2022.
