How else could the short form video social platform TikTok leverage the news that it had become an official partner of UEFA Euro 2020 other than a football mashup video on its own platform?
The 35-second social spot is a fast edit, action-packed video featuring some of the key moments and greatest Euros stars including Poland’s Robert Lewandowski, England’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Holland’s Memphis Depay and France’s Antoine Griezmann (to name just a few).
The creative is the usual TikTok mix of footage, animation and copy (‘Ballin’ With The Big Boys’) with the brand and official tournament logo.
It was on 10 February that UEFA announced TikTok as a global sponsor for the rescheduled Euro 2020 soccer tournament which will see 24 teams compete for the trophy between 11 June and 11 July.
The Chinese-owned short video app, the first digital entertainment platform to sponsor a major international tournament for UEFA, also has broadcast sponsorship rights as part of the deal.
Following on from the tie-up announcement creative, TikTok will launch a range of tournament features including augmented reality effects, hashtag challenges, TikTok LIVEs and Sounds for the tournament.
“We are looking forward to working closely with TikTok to provide fans globally with a unique and innovative experience, which will give them the opportunity to connect and share their passion,” said UEFA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein.
