A Greene King UEFA Euro 2020 campaign aimed at driving UK table bookings during the tournament was led by a hero spot starring former football stars Jamie Redknapp, Ally McCoist , Ashley Williams and Emma Louise Jones which drives home the message that ‘If you can’t be there, be here’.
The campaign, developed by agency and production house Trunk, is built around the idea that while the best place to watch the games is at the stadium, pandemic restrictions on travel and ground capacity mean that most football fans need to find alternative viewing venues. And Greene King’s message is that fans should consider their establishments which are positioned as ‘the home of pub sports’.
The film references previous Euros tournaments gone by through seamless scene transitions.
As well as the hero spot, which ran across the pub brand’s own digital and social channels, it is also pushing out supporting executions and pub-specific tournament-themed content across its social platforms.
We can’t wait to welcome customers back to our pubs to watch this summer's football. It’s been a long year to wait and we’re so excited to be cheering on our home nations.
