The US mobile telecoms giant is running a fresh campaign promoting its new (30% extra) data plan spearheaded by NBA super star LeBron James and supported by singer/actr5ess Selena Gomez, kids TV show characters from Yo Gabba Gabba and singer Enrique Iglesias.
The July campaign is led by TV commercials, additional video content and assets across Facebook, twitter and other digital properties.
The central spot sees the recently re-crowned NBA champion tell a young student not to pretend he’s studying when he’s actually checking out the Cleveland Cavalier star’s sweet skills.
While the supporting spots sees Verizon ally with Selena Gomez,
characters from TV show ‘Yo Gabba Gabba’,
and with Iglesias for the Spanish language ad.
Targeting data hungry kids and their parents, the core campaign was developed with agency Wieden + Kennedy Portland, while the Spanish language strand featuring Iglesias was created by The Community.
The W+W team was led by creative directors Aaron Allen and Jason Kreher with copywriter Chad Lynch, art director Tim Semple, broadcast producers Robert Saxon, Monica Raines and Endy, plus media/comm planning by Kelsey Bozanich and an account team headed by David Newsome, Diana Gonzalez and Nick Larkin/
The production company was Imperial Woodpecker, with director Stacy Wall, executive producer Doug Halbert and producer Michaela Johnson.
Editorial was handled by Joint’s Tommy Harden, JB Jacobs, Kevin Alfody and Eddie Mikasa, with producer Jen Milano and post executive producer Leslie Carthy.
The VFX company was Method, colour was handled by Company Company 3, thee mix by Joint Editorial
