In mid January mobile telecommunications provider Vodafone marked its new status as the Official Connectivity Partner of the Wimbledon Championships and the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club (AELTC) through an online, tennis-fuelled video built around its #FeelTheConnection platform.
Deployed across the brand’s digital and social channels, the ‘Wimbledon #FeelTheConnection’ spot rolled out on 178 January and outlines how Vodafone will connect its customers to the world of tennis, enhance the experience for fans and support the grassroots game.
We’re proud to announce that @VodafoneUK has partnered with @Wimbledon to connect you with the world of tennis. This partnership allows them to…
✅Enhance your viewing experience
✅Provide exciting ticketing opportunities
✅Bring you closer to the action— Vodafone Group (@VodafoneGroup) January 17, 2022
The telco also unveiled four-time Wimbledon men’s semi-finalist Tim Henman and former British number one Laura Robson as athlete ambassadors who will support the partnership and front its activation.
The new multi-year partnership will see Vodafone enhance the fan experience at The Championships through 5G connectivity, as well as via its augmented and virtual reality services, 360-degree and haptic technology and ‘Internet Of Things’ (IoT) connectivity
The global telco will also work with the AELTC and the UK’s tennis governing body The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to develop a new competition for grassroots players.
“We are looking forward to seeing how Vodafone will create unique experiences to bring our fans even closer to the action at Wimbledon this summer,” commented AELTC Commercial Director Gus Henderson. “It is also very exciting to have a partner who shares our aim of promoting tennis to an even wider audience.”
Vodafone Consumer Director Max Taylor added: “There is a huge buzz around British tennis and Wimbledon is set once again to be a high point of the summer. We want to build on this momentum long-term by helping people get involved in the sport. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to use our connectivity to deliver a world-class experience for fans both on and off the court. We can’t wait to get involved.”
