Distiller Whyte & Mackay has formed a partnership with Snow Leopard Vodka which will see 15% of its sales profits going to projects helping save the animal from extinction through the Snow Leopard Trust charity.
Since Snow Leopard Vodka launched three years ago, its conservationist founder Stephen Sparrow has donated 15% of all profits to saving the animal. There are only 3,500 beasts remaining and the brand works with the Snow Leopard Trust both in the UK and internationally on eco education initiative, local livestock insurance programmes, vaccination schemes and research projects.
Founded in 1981, The Snow Leopard Trust is the world’s leading authority in the study and protection of the endangered species.
The collaboration see Whyte & Mackay, which already includes Vladivar and Mallya in its range, buy a minority stake in the Polish-distilled Snow Leopard vodka. The link up aims to use Whyte & Mackay’s strength to expand beyond the initial 1,000 cases of Snow Leopard Vodka sold to date.
Comments:
The vodka brand and the animal should benefit from this major boost from Whyte & Mackay. This type of CSR collaboration is proving increasingly successful for companies looking to enhance and demonstrate their values and commitments and generates significant volumes of positive PR as an alternative to more traditional advertising.
If follows on from last year’s Whyte & Mackay’s Twitter-based whisky hunt and shows this once traditional brand is becoming increasingly innovative.
